Why do we Need to Talk
We have decided it was necessary to fork the Spacebar project after many long standing organizational issues have been continuing to occur. A recent incident has caused us to commit to a fork. We will use this opportunity to re-build the community and the trust that the community should have in both the leadership of our open-source project and chat platform.
What is Harmony?
Harmony is a continuation of the work Spacebar was meant to be. A FOSS implementation of the discord APIs with some extensions of course! We do plan to keep on working on everything spacebar has left behind and improve it! Rest assured everything that worked on Spacebar should continue to work on Harmony! We have many goals including but not limited to: finishing the reporting API, e2ee communications, modals, along with finishing interactions and components.
Why Harmony?
We went with the name the community had previously voted on in the naming competition that Spacebar had run around two years back. Back then the project decided to go with the name Spacebar instead. We chose this name to represent the projects commitment to the community, and besides it is a good name, there's a reason it won that naming competition.
Who is "We"
You might've noticed me using we throughout this post, and the reason is because I'm not working alone, I'm working with many talented individuals to make this whole project work out. Some of these volunteers are providing hosting, others code, and yet others helping set up an organization. I hope we as a group of people can lead this project into a new age of success, with many new features and fixes!
